March is when Morocco shows its best side to groups: warm enough to live outdoors, cool enough to walk the medina at noon, and still quiet before the Easter wave. For a tour operator it is also a month when rooms can still be found, as long as you know the two dates that change everything.
Why does March work so well for groups?
Because the whole circuit becomes workable in the same week. A group can visit Fes in the morning without the heat, cross the Atlas under a clear sky and sleep in the desert without the furnace of May.
- Long days. Close to twelve hours of daylight, enough for a road leg and a visit on the same day.
- Landscapes at their best. Snow on the peaks above Marrakech and green valleys after the winter rains.
- Easier hotels. Before Easter, riads and hotels are easier to hold than in April, large groups included.
- A good month for MICE. Evenings are cool but pleasant, ideal for a dinner under canvas in the Agafay.

Which dates matter in March 2027?

The end of Ramadan
In 2027, Ramadan is expected to begin around 8 February and end around 9 March, followed by Eid al Fitr, a public holiday. Exact dates depend on the moon sighting and are only confirmed a few days ahead. During Ramadan, Morocco switches to GMT instead of GMT+1, some restaurants outside hotels close during the day and site opening hours change. Nothing that stops a group, but it has to be built into the programme.
Easter, 28 March 2027
The last week of March falls in the Easter holidays of several European markets. Demand rises fast in Marrakech and the desert: for a group on those dates, we advise holding accommodation several months ahead.
In short: March gives the best balance of weather, light and availability. Just don't discover the Easter dates at the last minute.
