When an agency receives a quote for a circuit in Morocco, the total hides a dozen different lines. Understanding how they are built lets you compare two offers, and know where to adjust without spoiling the trip.
What are the main lines of a quote?
- Accommodation, often the largest part of the budget.
- Transport: vehicles, drivers, fuel, tolls, distances covered.
- Guides: official guides and, if needed, a tour leader for the whole circuit.
- Included meals, site entrance fees and activities.
- Coordination and support during the trip.
Why does the season change the price so much?
Hotels and camps set their rates according to demand. Easter, the Christmas and New Year holidays and the best weeks of spring and autumn are the most requested. Moving a departure by a few days can be enough to change availability, and the rate with it.
What difference does the size of the group make?
Some costs are shared: a coach, a guide or a tour leader cost roughly the same for twenty or for thirty people. The larger the group, the more those costs are spread. On the other hand, a very large group may need several hotels or several vehicles, which adds coordination.
Where can you adjust without spoiling the trip?
It is better to play on the pace than on the quality: one night less at a stop, a different category of accommodation in one city, an activity replaced by free time. Cutting guides or vehicle quality usually saves little, and shows a lot.
