Incentives in Morocco: three formats participants remember

An incentive has to leave a strong memory. In Morocco, three formats work particularly well: the imperial city, the desert escape and the Atlantic coast. How to choose, and for which group.

An incentive trip is not a sightseeing tour: it has to reward, surprise and create shared memories. Morocco suits it particularly well, with very different landscapes a few hours' drive from one another. Three formats come up again and again, each with its own strengths.

First format: the imperial city

Marrakech or Fes, with a riad or a large hotel as the base. Days mix guided visits, craft workshops and free time; evenings are spent in private palaces, on rooftop terraces, or at a fantasia show with its riders at full gallop. It is the simplest format to organise, ideal for a first incentive or a short stay.

Second format: the desert escape

One or two nights in a camp, usually after crossing the Atlas: sunset over the dunes, dinner under the stars, a camel ride at sunrise. It is the format people remember most, but it needs more logistics and a programme of at least three days.

In the desert, memories are made at the pace of the caravan.

Third format: the Atlantic coast

Essaouira and its light, or Taghazout for surfing: the ocean brings a more relaxed pace. Water activities, grilled fish at the harbour, walks along the ramparts. A good choice for a group that already knows Marrakech, or as an addition to a city stay.

How do you choose the right format?

  • Length: three days are not enough to reach the desert without rushing.
  • The profile of the group: age, fitness, appetite for adventure.
  • The season: the desert and the coast do not share the same best months.
  • The company's message: prestige, team spirit, pushing limits.
The best incentive is the one participants still talk about the following year.

Frequently asked questions

Can you combine several formats?
Yes, if there is time: city and desert combine well over five days or more, city and coast over four or five days.
What group size suits a desert incentive?
Large camps can take big groups, but the logistics grow quickly with numbers: start very early.
Do you need activities every day?
No. Free time is part of the reward: a few free hours in the medina or by the pool are often as appreciated as any activity.
